Freelance senior Fullstack Java 21 + React/Angular

We are looking for a Fullstack Java Developer for a client in Brussels. The ideal candidate should have seniority and extensive experience in frontend development. This is a full-time position with the possibility of working one day per week onsite in Schaarbeek. Knowledge of both Dutch and English or French and English is required.

The main project involves developing a new mutation application to replace the current mutation tool and Cosmos system. The application aims to fully digitize and automate the mutation process, integrate with online registrations via CIN, and avoid duplicate connections. The goal is to eliminate manual processes, reduce paper consumption, processing costs, and enhance data quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop user stories related to CM services for registering, submitting, and modifying member data

• Pair programming with developers

• Take initiatives both technically and methodologically

• Assist testers in functional testing to validate developed software

• Create automated tests

• Support junior developers in software development

• End-to-end responsibility for developed features, including testing and validation

• Write, maintain, and execute automated tests (unit, integration, UI/API)

• Independently test delivered functionalities before handing over to the team or business

• Contribute actively to the test strategy and quality assurance within the team

Requirements:

• Java 21, React and/or Angular, Spring MVC + Spring Boot

• Test-Driven Development (TDD), Integration Testing

• Experience with Quarkus and microservices ecosystem

• Event-Driven Architecture knowledge is a plus

• Experience with automation tests and testing

• Database: Oracle

• Tools: Jenkins pipelines, Openshift

• Demonstrable experience in testing and test automation within Java environments

• Experience in Agile environments and Scrum teams

• Experience in CI/CD integration of tests (e.g., via Jenkins pipelines)

• Knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and/or Enterprise Architect is a plus

Team Structure:

• 7-member team including analysts, business analysts, testers, developers, product owner, scrum master

• Close collaboration between business and ICT in an Agile project mode

• Self-organizing team working in sprints of 10 working days

• Daily standup meetings to update task status

• Participate in demos with business for quick feedback loops

• Proactivity and sense of responsibility are crucial in this team
