Freelance Oracle DBA & Linux Infrastructure Engineer
For a client (Brussels) we are looking for a Senior Oracle DBA & Linux Infrastructure Engineer.
The Senior Oracle DBA & Linux Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for managing, ensuring reliability, security, and further development of the Oracle database landscape and the associated Linux infrastructure. He/she ensures the continuity of critical engineering and business applications and supports modernization projects, cloud transitions, cybersecurity compliance, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
This role combines Oracle Database Administration (DBA) and Linux system administration.
Management and maintenance of Oracle 19c+ databases.
Monitoring health, availability, and performance.
Performance tuning and optimization.
Management of security settings.
Performing patches and upgrades.
Storage and capacity planning.
Database migrations.
Establishing and implementing standards and best practices.
Monitoring Oracle license compliance.
Supporting Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Setting up and managing RMAN backup strategies.
Monitoring and validating backups.
Restore and recovery activities.
Performing regular DR tests.
Formatting and maintaining documentation.
Supporting development teams.
Optimizing SQL queries.
Reviewing PL/SQL performance.
Supporting releases with database changes.
Managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
Performing OS and security updates.
Managing storage, LVM, and file systems.
Monitoring performance and capacity.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving.
Managing server lifecycle and migrations.
Automation through shell scripting.
Supporting mission-critical applications on Oracle/Linux.
Incident management and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Contributing to modernization and cloud transformation projects.
Supporting cybersecurity compliance.
Database models.
Database performance.
CMDB (Configuration Management Database).

Advanced level (5 to 8 years of experience)
Oracle Database 19c or newer.
Oracle Database Administration.
RMAN Backup & Recovery.
Oracle Performance Tuning.
Security Management.
Patch Management.
SQL and PL/SQL.
Debugging packages, views, and triggers.
Understanding the business context of applications.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Linux Server and System Administration.
Shell scripting (Bash).
LVM and Linux Storage Management.
Patch management.
Performance analysis and monitoring.
System troubleshooting.
Minimum of 5 years experience as an Oracle DBA.
Minimum of 5 years experience as a Linux System Administrator.
Experience in mission-critical production environments.
Experience with DR tests, upgrades, and migrations.
Ability to work independently.
Strong analytical skills.
Ability to handle complex problems in a changing environment.
Strong documentation skills.
Customer and service-oriented.
Good communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
PostgreSQL administration, monitoring, and performance tuning (5 to 8 years).
Oracle Linux (3 to 5 years).
Virtualization technologies (3 to 5 years).
Infrastructure monitoring and automation tools.
Languages: English (spoken and written) mandatory.
