The role: 

As a Data Architect, you provide clarity and structure in complex data landscapes. We are looking for an experienced Data Architect who can design and evolve robust, scalable, and secure data architectures that support both business and technical requirements. The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in data modelling and data management with a practical understanding of modern data platforms and technologies. You are a trusted advisor to stakeholders and business architects, aligning enterprise data frameworks with the overall company strategy while ensuring efficient data usage across the board. 

What you’ll do: 

• Visualise, design, and expand an organisation’s enterprise data management framework and data models.  

• Translate high-level business requirements into technical requirements, standards, and data principles.  

• Advise stakeholders on efficient data usage, challenge assumptions, and provide insights for complex data problems.  

• Scope, set up, and architecture projects from scratch, guiding a technical team through the implementation phase.  

• Engage with both technical teams and business stakeholders, acting as a true bridge and a genuine people person.

Skills we’re looking for 

Must-have: 

• Strong experience in data architecture and data modelling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models. 

• Solid knowledge of relational and dimensional modelling, data warehouses, data lakes, and modern lakehouse architectures. 

• Strong understanding of databases and data storage technologies, including relational, NoSQL, analytical, and cloud-based data platforms. 

• Experience defining data architecture principles, standards, patterns, and guidelines to ensure consistency across data solutions. 

• In-depth knowledge of modeling methodologies like Data Vault and Kimball. 

• Strong SQL skills and experience with database performance, scalability, and optimisation. 

Nice-to-have: 

• Solid insights into setting up ETL processes and data flows. 

• Understanding of cloud data platforms, preferably experience with Azure/Fabric, AWS, Oracle or Google Cloud and their associated data services. 

• Understanding of data security and privacy, including access control, encryption, sensitive data management, and relevant regulatory requirements. 

• Experience with data catalogues, metadata management, data lineage, and data governance platforms. 

• Understanding of AI/ML data requirements and architectures. 

• Experience or affinity with data visualisation and reporting tools. 

Languages: 

• Fluent in Dutch or French, with a strong knowledge of English.
